My daughter has always had the artistic bug. I noticed at a very young age she had an eye for choosing colors and placement of shapes. Every piece of art she does has a unique look to it – you know it was she that created it!
Our process has been to take old paintings I’ve done while teaching past classes and repurpose them into new works of art! She helps me choose the colors and then we both start painting together. She inspires me to approach art from a childlike perspective – carefree and playful.
It’s such a fun experience to get to do with my girl and I’m excited to give her the chance to showcase the fun pieces she has helped create!
Of course baby sis wanted to do a painting herself, too! Cuties.
FYI: This post has a lot of images! It may take a little bit to load for you to view them all. Please be patient. Thanks, friends!!!
These two people: beautiful inside and out! I have known Brianna since she was pretty young, through a church we both used to attend. We never really talked much, but we had a connection in that we both have a love for photography. So I think that is really cool. When Brianna came to me asking if I would photograph her wedding, I felt so honored! She told me she loved my work, and you guys, that just makes a girl feel GOOD when someone unexpectedly compliments you like that. Thanks SO much Brianna and Tony for trusting me to capture your once-in-a-lifetime. It was beautiful in every way! Here’s wishing you many years of love and endless adventure! <3
This moment right here was my absolute favorite of the whole ceremony: washing each others’ feet. What a beautiful picture of how marriage is about two people selflessly loving and serving one another. Simply breathtaking.
I took a long break from blogging after having my 2nd baby, and now I’m back! What better way to celebrate than to show you this fun couple’s engagement session! I had so much fun with these two. Their love is abundantly apparent and it truly was a blessing for me to be able to capture these moments for them. Thank you, Brianna & Tony, for choosing me!
Friends, keep your eyes peeled for their wedding blog post – coming soon, as I was having some tough technical difficulties trying to get my blog posts to work today! Friends, let me tell you, their day was GORGEOUS, so I can’t wait to share the images for you to see!
Thank you again, Brianna & Tony! I LOVE your love.
Do you ever just stop and think about the *cost* of having a loved one in the military? My heart breaks for the families that have lost loved ones as they fight passionately for our country – to keep each one of us safe and protect our freedom. I haven’t, personally, lost anyone in this way, but I do have 3 brothers currently serving our country (THANK YOU Tim, Brian & David!), so I have a special place in my heart for military families.
Having your loved one *in* the military is hard enough by itself. You worry about deployment and other things, and pray for their safety. But we shouldn’t have to worry about losing our soldiers on our own U.S. territory, like was the tragic fate for this United States Marine soldier, Sgt Carson Holmquist, USMC. Semper Fi, who lost his life in the senseless, hatefull crime of the Chattanooga, TN shooting earlier this year.
Our hearts ache for his family…our hearts ache for every single person who has lost someone they loved to hateful crimes – especially when those loved ones have sacrificed so much already for their country, as Sargeant Holmquist had.
My post is belated, but I wanted to share some photos of some of us from my little community paying our respects as Holmquist was escorted home one last time.
Thank you, soldier, for your service.
“The Lord is near to those who are broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
I love them and use them both. If I’m out and about for longer periods of time, I, personally, use the ERGO. Also, it’s a little more of a masculine look, so my husband doesn’t mind wearing it. 😉 If I’m baby wearing for shorter periods of time OR it’s really hot out, I prefer the Moby.
#2. A co-sleeper bassinet.
The first time around, we used a “normal” bassinet. But when you are a brand-new mom, exhausted and trying to figure things out, it gets tiring having to get up constantly throughout the night to get the baby for feedings and diaper changes. And honestly, she just didn’t really sleep that well in it… and I didn’t get good sleep because I was just constantly trying to listen to her breathing, etc, since she had a little bit of reflux and the bassinet couldn’t get very close to the bed due to its design.
I ended up just have the baby sleep in the bed with me most nights, but that’s not really recommended nor super safe if you are a restless sleeper or you’re just plain exhausted. I really couldn’t get good rest…I didn’t have peace of mind, so I was always a little bit awake.
This time around (I gave birth 2 weeks ago), I knew I wanted to keep co-sleeping, but I wanted the peace of mind that we wouldn’t roll on top of baby or she wouldn’t fall out of bed or something. I researched a LOT of different kinds of co-sleepers, and finally found one I thought I would like.
Enter in my new BFF: The Arm’s Reach Concepts Clear-Vue Co-Sleeper. I have the cocoa/fern version. I LOVE this co-sleeper! It’s SO nice because it hooks to the bed (under the mattress) so it can’t roll away. The height adjusters are built in to the legs (unlike some other ones where you have to purchase the height adjusters separately), it has rolling wheels on the feet, so that you can easily move it from room to room if you’d like, AND the side rail is adjustable, so you can use it as a stand-alone bassinet if you prefer. I also really like how the sheets have velcro on the bottom side that really secures the mattress down, so I don’t have to worry about the sheets coming off and posing a safety risk.
This was really designed with safety, comfort, and easy use in mind.
I love that now I can have my baby right next to me and just keep my arm on her or near her while we both get great rest. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this bassinet! I can’t say it enough.
#3. Cloth diaper burp cloths. Ok, I know this sounds a little weird. But it’s totally not! My mom is actually the one who told me about this genius idea (thanks, mom!). Burp cloths can be expensive…so instead, you can literally just buy a pack of those plain white, 3-ply prefold birdseye cotton cloth diapers and use those!
When I made them for my first baby, I just surged the edges in a pretty pink and VOILA! Cute little *absorbant* burp cloths – for cheap!
#4. A convertible swing & bouncer. It’s so nice to be able to put baby down sometimes and have the swing rock her to sleep…or take her out and bring the bouncer with me wherever I am and rock her that way. It’s just super convenient, so I included it in my top 5 must-haves.
Finally, #5. Young Living essential oils! If you haven’t read THIS POST, I highly recommend you take a look. These things are changing the way we treat our family and our lifestyle. We are taking charge of our health! They help us NOT rely on things that are toxic for us, and for that reason, we LOVE THEM!
We use them for so many different things, including non-toxic household cleaners. I even use them on our dog (goodbye rotten/wet dog stench! Hello puppies & rainbows!)!
I love feeling empowered and knowing exactly what is going into not only my mine, but my little ones’ bodies.
Not to mention the $$$ we are saving as I create our own household cleaners, laundry pods, dishwasher pods, bug spray, and the list goes on!
There you have it! 5 things I just couldn’t live without. OH, and one more thing (my husband would completely agree!): #ALLTHESTARBUCKS
HAPPY SHOPPING, mama’s!
